Barbara May Ritter was born to Ralph and Erma (Heath) Ritter on May 1, 1931 in Pueblo, Colorado. Like her older brother, Ralph she had many friends and was a grad student. After graduation from Pueblo Centennial High School in 1949 she went on to receive an Associate of Arts from Pueblo Junior College followed by a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Religion at Bob Jones University.

In 1958 she moved to Liberia, West Africa as a missionary for Baptist Mid-Missions where she served her Lord and the people of Liberia in many villages but especially in Yila. Civil unrest forced her to leave Liberia. At this point she decided to focus her ministry efforts on the people of Pueblo and also be a caregiver to her aging parents. She joined the staff at her home church, Parkhill Baptist Church, where she served her church and community for 20 years.

Since Barbara's heart was always with her friends in Liberia please make any gifts in lieu of flowers, to Calvary Baptist Church in Monrovia. You can make your check payable to G. Larque Vaye with the note that it's for Calvary Baptist Church Buiolding fund and send it to G. Larque Vaye, International Gospel Missions, 990 Calkins Road, Rochester, New York 14623.
