Evelyn A. Cooke, 86, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday (March 29, 2007) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain.
She was born in Torrington on September 10, 1920 to the late William J. and Rose (Marck) Cooke.
Evelyn was a graduate of CCSU Teachers College in 1942 and went on to receive her Masters Degree from Trinity College. She taught in Guilford for three years before coming to Plainville where she taught for 36 years at Plainville High School, retiring in 1981. She was member of Our Lady of Mercy Church and was on the Board of Catholic Family Services.
Evelyn was also a volunteer at the probation office in New Britain Superior Court.
She leaves her brother, Raymond R. Cooke of Raynham, MA; and a sister, Doris Clark and her husband Donald of Plainville.
Funeral services were held at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.
