MASSENA - Mrs. Anna N. Burgess, 78, of 8 Cornel Avenue, widow of Thomas J. Burgess, died at 1:40 Saturday afternoon, November 14th in Massena Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient two weeks.

The funeral was held Monday Morning, November 16th at 11 at St. James Episcopal Church. Burial was at Au Sable Forks.

Surviving Mrs. Burgess are two daughters, Mrs. Arnold T. (Hazel) Ramsey, Bolton Landing; Mrs. Edward (Bessie) Hale, Massena; one son Thomas James, Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Burgess and Mrs. Mabel Chappell both of Cayuga.

She was born in Auburn, July 7, 1880, a daughter of Byron and Mary Dunning Relfe. She attended Auburn schools and was married to Thomas Burgess of Au Sable Forks who died 32 years ago.

Mrs. Burgess was a member of the Episcopal church of Au Sable Forks, the Eastern Stars and the Grandmother Club. She had lived in Massena twelve years.

Mrs. Burgess, who resided at Au Sable Forks for many years often returned to visit relatives and friends during the past three decades. She was well known here and highly respected.

Rev. Jon Lindenauer, rector of St, James Episcopal Church, said prayers at the grave in Fairview Cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the burial service were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Burgess of Los Angeles, California, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold T. Ramsey, Bolton Landing and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hale, Massena. A large number of Au Sable Forks residents also were present at the cemetery.
