Zephyrhills, FL, and Millinocket - Melvin Arthur York passed away too soon on Jan. 11, 2018, at a Zephyrhills, FL, hospital. He went to join his wife, Susan, who passed away on Feb. 6, 2017, and his son, Thomas. Arthur was born in Bangor, on Jan. 25, 1949, to Darrah and Gertrude York. After graduating from Stearns High School, he joined the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged he returned home and worked at Great Northern Paper Co. at the clarifier plant.
When he became disabled, he and Susan moved to Florida, where they made their new home. Arthur is survived by a sister, Dolores and her husband, Charles Stewart, a brother, Ronald York, a brother-in-law, William Burke and his wife, Susan, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and numerous friends in Millinocket and Florida. He was predeceased by two brothers, Darrah and Gerald York, and two nephews, Gene and Gary Stewart.
Committal services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Millinocket Cemetery with full military honors.
