Napoleon "Bud" Blanchette, age 96, former Dunbar, WI resident, died Tuesday, April 7 at his daughter's residence in Sierra Vista, AZ. He was born July 12, 1910 in Little Lake, MI to Henri and Rosana (LaValley) Blanchette.

He worked for the Ansul Company in the 1930's before going into active duty in the United States Army. He served during World War II, retiring in 1943. He returned to Wisconsin and lived in the Crivitz, WI area for 13 years.

Marriage to Blanche Lacombe on July 5, 1934 in Marinette, WI.

On March 16, 1943 he married the former Bernice Cerasale in Salinas, Kansas.
They built a home on the Pike River in 1956 and he did carpentry work in the area. He helped build Camp Northland Mission in Dunbar.

His wife preceded him in death on April 25, 2000. He lived in Dunbar until moving to Arizona to live with his daughter, June Leaveck in 2003.

Survivors include three daughters: Bonnie Wood of Marinette, WI; June Leaveck of Sierra Vista, AZ and Ellen (Fred) Combs of Dunbar, WI; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Josephine Betzinger and four brothers: Victor, Lucen, Albert and Henry.

Visitation will be held at Messar Funeral Home on Saturday, May 5 from 9 to 10 a.m. with the funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Dunbar.
