John Luman Tomerlin 
1940-2018
On June 21, 2018 John Luman Tomerlin of La Porte, Texas went home to be with our Lord. 
The viewing and funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 26th at the First United Methodist Church La Porte, with the Reverend Kevin Gilmore officiating. A graveside service will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in La Porte.
John was married to Jean Adams on August 25, 1962 in Mount Pleasant, Texas. They were married for 55 years.
John finished his career as a senior executive at Enterprise Products after 25 years. In retirement John and Jean split time between their home on Galveston Bay and their Diamond T Ranch in Bee County, Texas. 
John participated in community activities, serving two terms on the La Porte City Commission, coaching little league sports, serving as President of the Jaycee's as well as serving on boards of several non-profit organizations. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church La Porte, a life member of the National Rifle Association as well as the Bee County Wildlife Management Association.
Johns hobbies and passions included attending the various activities of his seven grandchildren and fly-fishing excursions that took him to many places in North America and parts of Central America. 
John is survived by his wife, Jean, his two sons, Martin and his wife Wendy, Mike and his wife Debra. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Hunter Tomerlin, Jessica Jones, Mary Elizabeth Tomerlin, Sarah Tomerlin, Michael Tomerlin, James Tomerlin and Henry Tomerlin as well as many nieces and nephews. 
John is preceded in death by his parents, Dee Martin Tomerlin and Mary Angelina McEnroe, brother Dee Martin and wife Willie, brother Willie Pat, and sister Mary Dee Daffern and Husband J.D.
