Glenna Schoeffler passed away on June 20, 2018, in Pasadena, Texas, at the age of 87. Glenna Mae Hackney was born on September 22, 1930, in Pickton, Texas, to Donnie Mae (Hayden) and Glenn Taylor Hackney.
She graduated from Lubbock High School, in Lubbock, Texas, in 1947, and received a B.S. in Home Economics from Texas Technological College, in Lubbock, Texas, in 1951. Glenna married Carl William Schoeffler on May 22, 1951. They were married for 49 wonderful years.
For 14 years, Glenna taught public school at Northside Elementary, Hitchcock ISD; Port Houston Elementary, Houston ISD; and Pearl Hall Elementary, Pasadena ISD. Glenna was a woman of great faith and was a member of South Main Baptist Church, Pasadena, where she taught 2nd grade Sunday School for over 50 years. Much of her legacy resides in the impact she had on the lives of hundreds of children and the handmade Bible bag that she made for each of them. Glenna loved sewing and crafting, playing card games, watching her grandchildren play sports, and spending time with her close-knit family at the beach. Her sense of humor, value of education, and her love for God live on in her beloved family that has learned so much from her.
Glenna was pre-deceased by her husband, Carl William Schoeffler; parents, Glenn and Donnie Hackney; daughter, Vicki Jean Schoeffler Froehlich; son, Terry Lynn Schoeffler; sisters, Sarah Jeanette Hackney Castor and Elizabeth Ann Baggett; and brother, Kenneth Wayne Hackney. As she begins life anew and forever in the presence of the Lord Jesus, Glenna will also continue to live on in the affections of her children, Debbie Bertrand and husband, Larry, of Houston, Texas; Robin Lewis and husband, Kirk, of Pasadena, Texas; Micki Richard and husband, Mark, of Pasadena, Texas; son-in-law Gary Froehlich of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter-in-law Eileen Maas of Pasadena; grandchildren, Scott Bertrand, Adam Lewis, Stacy Schoeffler Taylor, Brad Bertrand, Chad Bertrand, Andrew Lewis, Erich Schoeffler, Randi Froehlich Murphy, Sarah Richard, and Kevin Richard; and great-grandchildren, Jane Taylor, David Hudson, Jr., Eli Lewis, Mary Bertrand, Ryen Bertrand, Josiah Lewis, Daniel Bertrand, Sawyer Bertrand, Lena Lewis, Amelia Lewis, Della Bertrand, and Charles Richard.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at South Main Baptist Church, Pasadena, Texas, 4300 East Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, TX 77505. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. at South Main Baptist Church.
