Alex H. Dietrich, 59, of 524 E. Ashton died Friday morning in a Lincoln hospital. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery...
Mr. Dietrich was born March 6, 1914, at Portland, Ore., the son of Henry and Ann Koehler Dietrich. He moved with his parents to Grand Island in 1915. He attended the Grand Island public schools and graduated in 1932 from Grand Island Senior High. He began his employment with the Star Grocery and remained there until 1942, when he entered the armed services. He served with the United States Navy until his discharge in 1943, when he returned to Grand Island. He married Loene Landingham on Aug. 12, 1935, at Brighton, Colo. The couple had made their home in Grand Island since their marriage. Mr. Dietrich began his association with the Thompson Company after his discharge and had been with the company for 30 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was a past worshipful master of Ashlar Lodge No. 33, A.F. & A.M., and was a member of Duel Chapter No. 11 Royal Arch Masons...Knights Templar, Scottish Rite...Tehama Shrine...Order of the Eastern Star...American Legion...and the Liederkranz.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Marlene) Lilly of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alex (Amelia) Benzel of Grand Island, and five brothers, Henry, John, William and Adolph, all of Grand Island and Roland of Costa Mesa, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
