Son of Ralph and Trena (Ohden) Abels who have preceded him in death, as well as his wife, Dorothy, 2 brothers Earnest and Ralph; his brother-in-law Richard Berleen; his sister-in-law Doris Dagett-Abels; his daughter-in-law Doris Dageatt-Abels; his daughter-in-law Lynnda Sorenson-Abels and his son-in-law Larry Christopher.
Graduated from Corwith High School in 1941.
Entered the United States air Force during W W II. He was a radar operator on a B-29 Bomber, based in the South Pacific.
Upon returning from the military Gene met his wife, Dorothy May Losh and were married Nov. 8, 1947 in Clarion, IA.
They had four children, Steven , Paul, Patricia and Philip. They also have nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He was very active in civic and religious organizations. He was successful in farming as well as the insurance business.
Gene is survived by his four children: Steven (Maureen) Abels, Paul Abels, Patricia Abels-Christopher, Philip (Patty) Abels and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
