The Covington Journal, Covington, Kentucky, vol. I, no. 45, Friday, May 25, 1849, p. 3, col. 3 (sub DIED):
This morning, HERMAN J. GROESBECK, of this city. He has enjoyed but poor health since he had to resign his seat in the Legislature last winter, in consequence of a hemorrhage of the lungs. He returned from the south a short time since, where he had been with a hope of recruiting his feeble health, and was attacked with an inflamation of the bowels. He was a generous and noble hearted man, possessing the entire confidence of all who knew him. He has left a wife and three small children and many friends to mourn his demise.
