Funeral services will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Kite First Baptist Church with Rev. Burton Dixon officiating assisted by Rev. John Dixon. Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery. Mr. Hood will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5-7 PM. Pallbearers are David Tamblyn, Travis Fleming Jr., Mitchell Hudson, Matthew Fleming, John Dixon, and William Hood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Dixon and Daniel Dixon.
Mr. Hood was born December, 27, 1922 in Pringle, Washington County, GA, to the late Johnny and Susie Poole Hood; was a WWII Veteran of Foreign Wars and a Purple Heart Recipient. He was employed and retired from All Make & Reliable Typewriter Co; was a member of the Kite First Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and in numerous other capacities through the years.
Mr. Hood was preceded in death by his wife, Ouida Lindsey Hood; brothers, Joseph Hood, Winton Hood, and Herman Hood; Son-In-Law, Dr. T. Matthew Tamblyn III; and great-grandchildren, Micah Fleming, and Asa Tamblyn
Survivors include:
Two Daughters: Mrs. Linda Tamblyn of Swainsboro, GA and Dr. Kathy Hood of Kite, GA
One Sister: Mrs. Blanche Simmons of Kite, GA
Four Grandchildren: Jeanne Pohl (Eric), Susan Fleming (Travis Jr.), Karen Hudson (Mitchell) and David Tamblyn (Hope).
14 Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
