Bob, 78, of Tigard, passed away of a hemorrhagic stroke at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon on Sunday, September 18th.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty (Hinman) Banford of Tigard, daughter Susan and son-in-law Mike Smith, and beloved Granddaughters Hayley and Brianna, Beaverton.
Bob was born in Portland on July 28, 1938, to Roy and Marjorie (Wilson) Banford. He had one sister, Beverly, who passed away in 2015.
He was raised in Portland and graduated from Franklin High School in 1956.
Bob married his high school girlfriend, Betty Hinman, on April 22, 1961. They had a daughter, Susan.
The family moved into a house in Tigard in 1969, where he lived until his death.
Bob worked for Western Electric, and then at Tektronix in Beaverton, retiring in 1991.
He enjoyed all sports, and working on cars. His first and favorite car was a 55 Chevy. Later, he bought a 57 Chevy. Bob was a member of the Lemans Car Club.
In 2011, Bob and Betty celebrated fifty years of marriage on a Hawaiian vacation.
There will not be a service at Bobs request, but there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Remembrances in Bobs memory may be made to Alzheimer's Research.
