Nancy L. Halvorson, age 63, of Spicer, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 10, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 18, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be at Eagle Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. www.petersonbrothers.com
Nancy Lei Halvorson was born on November 15, 1954, in Will-mar, Minnesota, the daughter of Leif and Margarete (Emberland) Fostervold. She grew up on the family farm on the south shore of Diamond Lake and graduated from Atwater High School in 1973. She was employed as a waitress at Andy's Café and Torgy's East in Spicer. She later worked for many years at C Suzanne Women's Clothing Store and Langager's Jewelry in downtown Willmar. On May 29, 1982, Nancy was united in marriage to Todd Halvorson at the Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. They made their home in Spicer and she worked part time with the family business, Halvorson Company Inc. in downtown Spicer. Her first priority was her family and home. Nancy loved cooking, baking and making Scandinavian treats. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and garden and had a fond love for pets. She was an avid genealogist, researching her own family and anyone from around the world who contacted her for help and information.
She is survived by her husband, Todd of Spicer; one son, Aaron of Spicer; one brother, Daniel (and Gloria) Fostervold of Atwater; one sister, Betty (and Gordon) Behm of Atwater and one sister-in-law, Sharon Fostervold of Spicer, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, David, and Allan in infancy.
