Ulysses McMullen Jr. was born in Los Angeles, California to Ulysses Mullen Sr. and Odell Thornton McMullen. Ulysses, affectionately called "June" by family and friends was the 7th of 10 children born. He attended 102nd Street Elementary School, Charles Drew Jr. High School, and graduated from David Star Jordan High School. While at Jordan, he took up drafting and engineering. June also attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College pursuing Carpentry.

His heavenly home going was preceded by his mother Odell McMullen, father Ulysses McMullen Sr: sisters Eleanor Thornton, Elaine Creft, Juanita Tyson and Paula Jean McMullen.

Ulysses and Odell being Christians, reared June and all their children using the teachings of Jesus Christ. Ulysses accepted Christ at a early age and was baptized at Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church. Ulysses was a member for 50 years under the leadership of Pastor Ferrell Douglas, Ulysses was active in the church. He help out by volunteering at Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas and many other ministries.

Ulysses met Patricia Green , he was working on a house nest door to where she was living. Ulysses and Patrica were united in Holy Matrimony, although they had no children together. Ulysses did have 4 children when they married. Ulysses and Patrica shared 19 years of marriage.

Ulysses was self-employed in Construction He was a Builder and Carpenter for 38 years. He loved God and enjoyed a large variety of things: reading word of God, writing, gardening , cooking, family gatherings, and sports. (He was a avid Lakers fan). His desire was to be a person with skills to help others. Ulysses was a lovable, kind, and caring man, he had a good sense of humor, was humble, and maneuverable. Ulysses humbleness helped him to find a good thing, which was his wife. He truly loved her and was always available to take care her "Honey Do List". Ulysses found time to coach teenagers at the Boys Club as well. He always had a kind word to say, and was willing to help others, he was modest in all areas of his life. He was never shy, and had an outgoing personality. Everyone who knew him found to be likable, and a very pleasant person to be around. Ulysses loved music, partying, and dancing. He could do any dance that came out.

The time has come for my departure: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord the Righteous judge will award me on that day.

On Thursday, April 26, 2018, Ulysses received his wings and flew home to be with the Lord.
