Denise was born October 28, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas to Darrell and Joan ( Ashpole) Piper and died Saturday, March 12, 2011 in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She attended grade schools in Wichita, Marshall, and graduated from Drummond High School in 1973.
On September 20, 1975 she married Herb Robinson Jr. in Douglas, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Enid where she worked for Southwestern Bell, first as an operator and later as a test desk technician. She worked there until 1986. In 1989 she began her career with the Department of Public Safety where she attained the rank of Sergeant in 2009. She was still with Troop J at the time of her death.
In addition to being an avid book reader, she was a member of numerous clubs and organizations; Including: The Enid High Band Boosters and the Cherokee Strip Piece Makers Quilt Guild. She was a valued organizer and was deeply involved with the Enid Majorettes and designed twirling costumes for collegiate twirlers around the country including OSU, NWOSU and others. The younger Troopers referred to her as “Mom” and she kept the trooper’s uniforms in good order and made repairs and alterations. She loved being involved with her children’s activities and later spending time with her grandchildren..
She is survived by her husband Herb Robinson Jr., of the home, son, Dean Robinson and wife Kasiah of Enid, daughter, Carey Haworth and husband Erik, of Tulsa, Mother, Joan Cook of Enid, and three grandchildren, Ryan, Aidan, and Reagan. Two sisters, Darla Meier of Enid and Johnna Ridenour of San Diego, CA. Three brothers, Darrell Piper of Wichita, Kansas, Joe Piper of Enid, and Phillip Cook of Lawton, OK. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother Charles Cook.
