Clifton Arnold Achterberg was born on March 29, 1984 in Houston, Texas to Timothy and Gail Achterberg. Clif was a lifelong Katy resident and in his younger years was a member of Boy Scouts of America. Clif was also a member of the band, Grimoire. He enjoyed loud music and spending time outdoors where he grew a talent for BBQ.

Clif passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018, in Katy, at the age of 34.

He is survived by his parents, Timothy and Gail Achterberg of Katy; brother, Walter Friedrich Achterberg of Katy; grandparents, Ed and Kathleen Smith of San Antonio; uncle, Ed Smith, Jr. of San Antonio; aunt, Julie Shodrok and husband Kevin of San Antonio; uncle, Pat Achterberg and wife Karen of Houston; aunt, Carroll Fisher and husband Alan of San Antonio as well as numerous cousins and other loving family members.

The family will be receiving friends for a visitation at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Thomas officiating. An interment will immediately follow at Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
