News has been received here of the death of John Wharton and Ira Wharton, in Henry county, Missouri. The former died June 26 and the latter July 28. John Wharton lived at Montrose and his brother some 20 miles distant. They were children of Rice Wharton and were born on the farm now owned by J.V. Kauffman, south of Pennville. Their father was a native of Kentucky and entered the farm spoken of 1815. John Wharton was a soldier in the Eighth Indiana and served four years. During this time he became infatuated with that portion of Missouri where he long resided, and went there after the war closed. His brother, Ira, did not go until some years later. We are sorry to hear of their death. They were honorable, industrious gentlemen, and the world was better for the influence of their lives. A sister, Mrs Mary Smith, of Iowa, is the surviving member of the family.
