Willie Jean passed peacefully at the age of 99 surrounded by three generations of loving family on July 27, 2017.
She was born in Houston, Texas on January 19, 1918, where she later earned a Registered Nurse Degree from the Lillie Jolly School of Nursing, married a merchant marine and raised her family. An accomplished Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Nurse at Memorial Hermann; in her spare time Willie Jean enjoyed traveling with her family, gardening, water aerobics, and caring for friends and family.
Loved ones awaiting a joyous reunion with Willie Jean are her husband of 50 years, Elmer A. Alford; her infant son, Gary A. Alford; parents, Christine M. (Arto) Meyer and Eugene L. Meyer; as well as countless extended family and friends.
Family members that will miss Willie Jean until they meet again include her daughters, Joyce Harson and Nancy Dawkins; granddaughter, Shelly Lozano and husband, Daniel Lozano; and great grandchildren, Maclain Lozano and Caitlin Lozano.
An informal Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12th at the Lozano Residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the charity of your choice.
