Edmund "Ed" Louis Lully, Jr., 70, of Spartanburg, S.C. died July 9, 2018 at his home following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig disease).

Born November 13th, 1947 in Glen Cove, New York, he was the son of the late Edmund Louis Lully, Sr. and Grace Urahane Lully.

Mr. Lully was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and the Spartanburg Optimist Club where he received the Friend of Youth Award for his work in the “Just Say No Program” for the local elementary schools. He was a former volunteer for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg. He lived most of his younger years in Clark Hill, S.C. and was a graduate of Aquinas High School, Augusta, Ga. and Dekalb Technical College in Atlanta, Ga. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Lully was stationed in Little Creek, Va. on the USS Hermitage. He retired from Colonial Pipeline Company on May 1, 2009, after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra Clary Lully; daughters, Angela Warren (Todd) of Lexington, S.C. and Christine Schools (Stephen) of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Stephen Louis Lully (Kristen) of Spartanburg, S.C.; his beloved grandchildren, Joshua Soots, Caleb Warren, Caroline and Samuel Schools and Baby girl Lully due in November; sisters, Grace White of Florence, Al., Elizabeth Millard (Ken) of Waldeck, Canada; a niece and several nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Lully and a sister, Linda Marie Lully.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 101 St. Matthew’s Lane, Spartanburg, S.C., conducted by The Rev. Robert L. Brown and The Rev. Mia D. McDowell. Visitation will follow the service in the church Gallery. A private burial will be held.

The family will be at the home.
