Funeral Services notice from the Jefferson Bee Newspaper, Thursday February 16th 1984. Curtis Lester Stream. Funeral Services were held on Friday February 10, 1984 at the Hastings funeral home in Jefferson for Curtis L. Stream 79 a lifetime Greene County resident. The Rev. Henry Hickethier pastor of the first Baptist church of Churdan officiated. Mrs. Curtis Wilson was organist. Honorary casket bearers were Dwayne Dillavou; Adelbert Thomsen; Richard Fitzpatrick; Larry Thomson; Robert Daniels; Lloyd West; George Sabus; Fred Morain; Roy Mosteller and Gerald Dunne. Casket bearers were David Hendricks; Boyce Johnson; Gary McCormick; Merritt Stream; Mitch Stream; John Lundy; Ivan Curtis; David Wise; Donald Tasler; Dennis Hendricks and Ronald Zwicky. Internment was in highland Township cemetery at Churdan IA Curtis L. Stream son of Chancy and Laura Dillavou Stream was born March 25th 1904 on his parents farm in Bristol township Greene Co. He passed away at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson Iowa. Curtis started his education in rural schools near his home southeast of Churdan. The family later moved west of Churdan where he attended school in Churdan. Curtis graduated from the Churdan High School in 1922. After his schooling he farmed. On December 23rd 1922, Curtis was married to Dorothy Smyth at the Methodist parsonage in Jefferson. They were the parents of three children; Madeline; Marvin and Meredith. The family farmed in the Churdan and Scranton areas. They purchased their present farm in 1946 and lived there at the time of Curtis's death. Curtis raised purebred Hereford cattle and had the Case implement dealership from 1955 to 1970. When he was in high school Curtis participated in basketball and baseball. His basketball team went to tournament in Sioux City. After he was married he played baseball on the Churdan town team. Curtis had been ill a short time in 1977 and in 1980. He had been in failing health since April of 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law. Earle Day. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Churdan: two sons; Marvin and his wife Francetta Stream of Churdan and Meredith and his wife Mardel Stream of Churdan; Their daughter; Madeline and her husband, Keith Hendricks of Jefferson, six grandchildren; four Great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lavern Day of Dayton OR.
