Frank Julius Haserick worked as a clerk at his "father-in-law's" Byron Elmer Smith's company in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

In 1915 he eloped to New York with his boss's 15-year-old daughter and married her "on the run" in Elmira, Chemung County, New York, not far from the northern Pennsylvania state border.

His uncle [perhaps Lewis J. Haserick ?] lived at that time in New York City at 269 West 103d Street, i.e. in Manhattan on a side street off-Broadway, between Central Park NW and the Hudson River.

Frank Julius Haserick was arrested there by a telegram order from the Chief Harber of Williamsport.

However, the story had a happy ending: The father-in-law finally forgave those two run-aways.
