Rodger A. Nowell, Sr. better known as PopiePapa to his grandchildren, 73, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2005 in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Crestview. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Hampton Vaughan Crestview.
Rodger was born May 28, 1931 in Corsicana, TX. as a twin to the late Burl and Lona (Lewis) Nowell, Sr. On June 1, 1951, he married Clara Estelle Tucker in Corsicana. He lived a good life filled with God, family, friends, and work. During his retired years, he loved playing Bingo.
Survivors include: his wife of 53 years Estelle Nowell of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Brenda Taylor of Wichita Falls, and Debbie Gazda and husband Frank of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Rodger Nowell, Jr. and wife Kellie of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren, Eric West and wife DeAndra, Jennifer Straus and husband Mike, Stephanie Taylor, and Megan and Braiden Nowell all of Wichita Falls; two great grandchildren, Addison West and JD Straus of Wichita Falls; and three brothers, Burl Nowell, Jr. and wife Mary, Russell Nowel and wife Dorothy, and Jimmy Nowell and wife Anne all of Wichita Falls.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
