Mom met the love of her life, Gust Chamas, Jr., while both were attending South Gate High School in South Gate, CA. Mom & Dad married August 17, 1951 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in South Gate. Dad predeceased Mom on April 23, 2018.
Mom is survived by her children, their spouses & their families: eldest son, Lawrence Keith "Larry" Chamas & wife JoJean (Nuttall) Chamas of Smithville, MO; daughter, Laura Elaine Chamas-Ortega & husband Moises Ortega of Belen, NM; & Gust Earl "Gust" Chamas & wife Elizabeth "Liz" (Mercado) Chamas of Albuquerque, NM.
Mom leaves 10 grandchildren: Ginger Chamas, Neffie (Chamas) Wilson & husband Brad, Marcy (Chamas) Messer & husband Lowell, Eric Chamas & wife Margaret, Dierdra Chamas & wife Holly & Nick Chamas; Jeanne (Ortega) (Smith) VanDehy & husband David & Jacob Ortega & wife Joanna; Christine Chamas & Kyle Chamas.
There are also 12 Great-Grandchildren: Elijah, Trent & Sadriel Ortega; Moises Smith; Rylan, Lucas, Kade & Aurora Messer; Cole, Ben, Abby & Tobias Wilson.
Additionally, Mom is survived by her sister, Kay (Forsythe) Ledestich of Big Bear City, CA, sister-in-law, Marie (Fotheringham) Hughett of Huntington Beach, CA & step-father, Charles "Chuck" Robrecht of Scottsdale, AZ.
Extended family members also surviving are: nephews, Chris Hughett; Mike & Matt Ledestich; nieces, Linda Hughett; Lynell (Carroll) Tapp & Nanette (Carroll) Hogan; Wendy (Ledestich) Douglas.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Earl Raymond Forsythe & Helen Wilhelmina (Peters) (Forsythe) Robrecht. She was also predeceased by the following: a daughter, Loretha Kay Chamas; father-in-law, Gust Chamas, Sr.; mother-in-law, Chrystal Bonere (Erickson) (Hughett) Chamas; brothers-in-law, Jack Philip Hughett & Jack Lavern Carroll; sister-in-law, Flora Mae (Chamas) Carroll; nephew, Ken Hughett.
Mom's funeral was at Grace Lutheran Church in Albuquerque on Monday, July 16, 2018 with Pastor Warren Graff officiating.
Ennichement date: Friday, August 17, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Park.
Mom was active as a volunteer in her community and shared her musical talents with the senior citizens of Albuquerque.
