Josephine H. Green peacefully passed away at the age of 82 at Olds Hall Good Samaritan Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, on March 11, 2007.

Born Josephine Emma Mabel Howell on June 20, 1924 in Ithaca, New York, of the late Charles W. and Matilda M. Howell, she grew up in Ludlowville (now Lansing), where she graduated from high school.

In 1943, she married Robert B. Taylor with whom she had three children.
Known by family and friends as "Jo" or "Josie," she was the first in her family to leave New York, transferring in 1963 from a position in accounting with General Electric in Ithaca to advance with GE in Daytona Beach, Florida. Here she spent most of her remaining years.

During that time she met and married the love of her life, Robert L. Green of Hallandale, Florida. Following Mr. Green's fatal accident on an oil rig off the coast of Louisiana, she returned to Ithaca where she was employed by Wilcox Press and later Cornell University's Physics department.

In 1978 she returned to the Daytona Beach area.

Josephine will affectionately be remembered for her intellectual curiosity: she was a voracious reader, an avid Bridge player, and had many interests such as treasure hunting, the supernatural, and politics. She was also an engaging storyteller and conversationalist, thoroughly enjoying a good debate.

Although she often reminisced about her life on the farm in the Finger Lakes region of New York, she loved her home on the Intracoastal Waterway in Florida.

Among other many relatives and friends, Josephine will be greatly missed by her three children, Gale H. Pope, Edward A. Taylor, and Robert W. Taylor; two brothers, James W. Howell and Charles F. Howell; and two grandchildren, James R. Hastings and Jennifer R. Taylor.

Josephine remained close to her extended family and will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Phyllis Howell, Ernestine Howell; and her brother-in-law Ralph Rohm, Jr.

She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara H. Rohm, a brother, Herbert H. Howell, and a sister-in-law, Helen Howell.A memorial service will be held in Lansing at the home of James and Phyllis Howell, 826 Ridge Road, on April 21, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, Josephine would prefer to remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
