Jacob Albert Michel was born 15 Jun 1893 in Bristol Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Amelia Krueger and Andrew Elmer Michel. Jake had four brothers and one sister.
In 1914 Jake married Selma Amelia Ruth "Sallie" Kastner in Stutsman County, North Dakota. Sallie was born 14 Jan 1896 in Nebraska to Frederika Rosina "Frieda" and William Kastner. She had many siblings. Jake and Sallie lived and farmed in Stutsman County.
Their three children were Gerald "Jerry" Leonard Michel born 1918, Bernard A. Michel born 1922, and Lorraine Carroll Michel born 1926. Oldest son Jerry married Lois Belle Smith and they had six children together. When Bernard (second child) was 13 years old (1935), he was killed by a car while riding his bicycle on Highway 281 outside of Jamestown. Third child Lorraine first married Delbert Rick and they had two children together. After Delbert died at the young age of 45, Lorraine then married Walter Milton Smith.
Jake's wife Sallie died 09 Mar 1980 at age 84 in the Central Dakota Nursing Home in Jamestown. Two years later Jake died on 24 Jul 1982 at age 89 in the Jamestown Hospital. They are both buried in Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown (Jake at BB-3-10 location and Sallie BB-3-11 location). Their son Bernard is buried at location BB-3-12.
