He was a 1945 graduate of Grafton High School. He then went to work at Evans Furniture on Latrobe Street in the early 1950’s. In the middle of the 1950’s he went to work in Shinnston for Joe Salerno in this coal tipple, then he work for Baldini Coal. In 1969, while working for Brown Motors, he and his wife, Marjorie, purchased the Dodge-Chrysler dealership. George Motors thrived for over twenty-five years. They enjoyed several fun and wonderful vacations from Chrysler for award-winning salesmanship, including trips to Cancun, Bermuda, Las Vegas, and many others. Both George and Marjorie delighted and enjoyed being at street stock and drag racing and winning their share of trophies. In 2016 George and Marjorie were both inducted into Charleston WV Drag Racers Hall of Fame. This is an accomplishment claimed by few.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sydnie Frances Locke Dillon Harvey, who raised him into the fine young man that George was.
