Richard B. "Dick" Stone March 12, 1923 - April 27, 2009 Passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 86.

Dick was very much loved by family and friends. There are no words to describe how sorely he will be missed.

He is survived by Lois E. Stone (Lindeman) his wife of 63 years;
daughter Marcia (Dave) Coburn of Folsom;
and sons Tom (Roberta) of San Carlos, Richard (Michelle) of Twain Harte, and Doug (Joan) of Hillsborough;
eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Osmond; sisters Mimi Sefton and Virginia McBirney.

Dick was born in San Francisco at St. Luke's Hospital to Cecil Hollis Stone and Roberta Summers Stone, on March 12th, 1923. He grew up in the Richmond district and attended Argonne Elementary, Presidio Junior High, George Washington High School and the University of San Francisco.

After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Dick enlisted in the military to serve in WWII.

After the war he returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Lois E. Lindeman, on December 29th, 1945. Dick and Lois first made their home in San Francisco and then moved to the peninsula in 1949.

They raised their four children in Redwood City, lived in the Roseville area during their retirement and returned to the peninsula to be closer to their family in 1985.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Kaiser Hospital, South San Francisco and St. Francis Pavilion, Daly City. A celebration of Dick's life is planned for Friday, May 1st at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Avenue in Burlingame.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the George Washington High School Athletic Department in San Francisco.
