Doris was born August 14, 1923 in Lorain, Ohio, a quaint town on the shores of Lake Erie. She was one of four children and maintained a close relationship with her siblings all her life, most notably with her sister Audrey who was her dearest friend.

Doris enlisted in the Women's Marine Corp in 1943 and proudly served her country during World War II as a radio repairman. Serving as a marine was one of her proudest accomplishments.

Doris married twice, one brief marriage which ended in divorce but produced a daughter, Pam. Doris then was introduced to Jim by her brother Bill, who served in the Navy with Jim during the Korean Conflict. Doris and Jim married June 3, 1953 and embarked on a fifty year journey together that was filled with love, laughter and friendship. This marriage produced three more children, Jim, Dan and Rene.

Doris had a long and happy life and passed away at the age of 94 after a brief illness. Those closest to her, who loved and supported her till the end of her life are her son in law Colonel David H. Sammons Jr., daughter Rene Sammons, son Daniel London and his wife Carla, grandsons Joshua Sammons, Nathan and Christine Sammons, Kyle and Dakota Sammons, Ryan and Heather Bartholomew. Their love and support was unwavering.

Her extended family includes grandchildren Hannah, Tatum and Elle London, Scott London, James London III, and Aaron Bartholomew. Her great grandchildren include Lucas Sammons, Greyson and Gavin Sammons, Sydney London, Landon and Ethan Bartholomew, And Carlie and Trenton Bartholomew.

Jenny Waller and Julie Dyke are cherished nieces. We will miss her.
