John Thomas Morley, was born at Littleport in Cambridgeshire on the 29th June 1864, the son of William and Sarah Ann Morley. His father was a farmer and publican. John lived at home until the age of 17 but once married to Annie Harding he moved to Camberley.

For over 40 years he was head gardener at the Ravenswood House estate. After he retired in 1922 they moved to Providence Cottages in Crawley Ridge where he worked as a jobbing gardener.

After the death of his wife Anne in 1941 he continued to live at his cottage. He died here on the 7th September 1951 and was buried at St Peter’s on the 10th September.
