Macon - The death of Lola Dowis Teague, age 85, occurred Thursday in Macon. Services will be held Sunday 2P.M. from the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Harold Lawrence officiating. Burial will be private in Memory Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Teague was a native of Gwinnett County but had made her home in Milledgeville for many years. She was the widow of the late James D. Teague, Jr. and the last member of the Dowis family of Gwinnett Co. She was a retired Health and Physical Education teacher with Baldwin High School where she also coached Girls Basketball. Mrs. Teague was the Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years and
was in charge of the Girls Day Camp. She was an active volunteer with Hospice, the American Red Cross and American Cancer Society. She was a very active member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Pat Teague of Cordele; three daughters, Faye Johnson of
Macon, Hannah Thompson of Baldwin, and Mary Mason of Kathleen. Fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survived. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 300 W. Hancock St., Milledgeville 31061 and an act of kindness for someone else as a tribute to Mrs. Teague. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00P.M. Moores Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
