Catherine Brittain Estes, 66, formerly of 3527 Driftwood Drive, died March 28, 2004, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was born May 7, 1937, in Murphy, daughter of the late Nethal Annie Brittain and Basil Barlin Huffman. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Samuel J. and Maudie McFalls Brittain of Burke County. Mom was a special, caring person who loved everyone she met. And everyone she met could not help but love her. She had such a sweet and innocent character that was almost childlike. Although she had a hard life from the time she was a very young child, she was never bitter about the past. She never forgot the hard times, but refused to let the bad times affect her life in a negative way. She was a simple country woman who loved her family unconditionally. She didn’t care about how much money or material possessions she had. She was content to just having the necessities of life. She was Christian lady who loved the Lord and prayed to him often. She is with him now in the kingdom of heaven where she will only know his everlasting joy and happiness. All who knew her will miss her so dearly. Her simple kindness and sweet personality are a rarity in this world today, and all of us have benefited in many ways simply by just having the honor to have known her. Survivors....recently discovered brothers and sisters of the Huffman family; she was related to many families too numerous to list throughout the Triad of Burke, Lincoln and Cleveland and much farther beyond
