Obituary for Charles Pack Daniel
Mr. Charles Daniel went to be with his Lord on January 10, 2016, at his residence at Plantation Estates in Matthews, NC, at the age of 90.

A native of Greenville, SC, Charles was born July 26, 1925, son of the late Robert Norman Daniel and Frances Evelyn Pack Daniel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Norman Daniel, Jr and two sisters, Frances Daniel White and Elizabeth Daniel Robbins. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ella Louise Daniel.

Charles was a devoted Christian with a strong faith in Jesus Christ. He was a member of Carmel Baptist Church at the time of his death and previously was a member of First Baptist Church of Weddington. Over his lifetime, he was a member of several other churches in the communities where he lived, and served as a church deacon and Bible study teacher. He worked for a number of years with Gideon’s International, an organization devoted to distributing Bibles.

Charles served in the United States Army during WWII as a medical corpsman and was honorably discharged in April 1946.

Charles was a graduate of Furman University, the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and Emory University and prepared himself for a life-long career teaching biology for college students. He taught at High Point University, Furman University, and Georgia College before his retirement in 1988.

Following his retirement, Charles relocated with his wife to Matthews, NC, where they made their home at Plantation Estates. Charles was active in the Plantation Estates community, particularly in the chaplaincy program.

Charles had a keen interest in his family history and genealogy. He served several terms as president of the Huguenot Society of Georgia, an organization for those with ancestry among French Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Charles is survived by his son, John Norman Daniel and his wife Kim Daniel of Charlotte, NC; his daughter, Frances Layne Daniel of Alexandria, VA; and grandchildren, William Robert Daniel and Carrie Frances Daniel. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

An interment service will be at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews/Weddington NC, on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 4:00pm with the Reverend Bill Fogarty presiding. A memorial service will be held at Plantation Estates, 733 Plantation Estates Drive, Matthews, NC on Friday, January 15, 2016, at 2:00pm with the Reverend Larry Watts presiding.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ACTS Mission Foundation Inspiration Fund, Plantation Estates, 733 Plantation Estates Drive, Matthews, NC 28105.

Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel.
