Services for Doris Cook 86, of Etoile, will be held July 25, 2018 at Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.
East Texas lost one of its best on July 21, 2018 as Etoile native Doris Cook went on to be with the Lord. Doris was born in Etoile, Texas on July 1, 1932. She was living in Marietta, Oklahoma at the time of her passing.
Doris was one of five children to Amos and Etta Mae Cook. She grew up picking cotton and helping around the house until she married Johnnie Melvin Pyle and moved to Houston where she worked as a cake decorator. They had six children between them Don, Jerry, Sheila, Larry, Danny, and Darwin. She was affectionately known to her boys as Momma and grandchildren as Mamaw.
She would later return to her home in Etoile where she lived until her last four years. She was a very tough woman who tirelessly gave everything she had to her boys. She always put herself second to their needs and found a way to provide for them regardless of circumstances.
Family includes her sons: Don, Larry, Danny, and Darwin; grandchildren, Kevin, Stephanie, Cody, Casey, Carly, Heather and Ryan Morgan, Shane, Justin 'JD', and Michael; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dalton, Charlotte, Avery, Kylie, Jace, Ryan, Heath, Ellie J., and Brody; brothers, Neil Cook and Buddy Cook; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sheila; son, Jerry; siblings, Hoyt Cook and Lila Mae Pyle.
She left a lasting footprint on this earth and now it is her time to be with the Lord in Heaven. She will be missed.
