Dr. John Garnett Gooselaw, 65, who dedicated much of his medical career to pathology, died Sunday of congestive heart failure at his home in Wilmette. "He just found that (pathology) the most interesting and challenging of all specialties," his wife, Gwendolyn, said of his chosen field. Dr. Gooselaw was born in Grand Forks, N.D., and moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern Medical School in 1955. After graduating, he interned at Cook County Hospital and then joined the staff at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. He was director of laboratory services there for 25 years before retiring in 1994. In addition to his wife, Dr. Gooselaw is also survived by two daughters, Janet Scarf and Kathryn Sorenson; a son, Edward; a sister, Beverly King; a brother, Edward; and five grandchildren.
