Mrs. Geneva Beasley Hawks, 87, of Ararat, VA passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. She was born in Surry County on June 24, 1927 to the late Charles and Bertie Dunkley Beasley. Mrs. Hawks was a beloved mother, grandmother, homemaker, gardener, friend, and confidante and was a proud member of Blue Hollow Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Mark Perkins of Kingsport, TN, Pamela and Cliff Arn of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Cameron Perkins, Katherine Arn and Matthew Arn; special friends Thelma Mabe and Jean Harrell, and many nieces and nephews, especially Carl, Judy, and Joyce. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her loving husband, Irvin Lester Hawks; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carroll and Gurney Hodges, Iris and Joel Dehart; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Shirley Beasley, Lowell and Mealsey Beasley. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 23, 2015at 11:00 AM at Blue Hollow Baptist Church with the Rev. Rickey Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening June 22, 2015 at Blue Hollow Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Blue Hollow Baptist Church, 1195 Slate Mountain, Rd. Mt. Airy, NC. 27030.
