Ernest Paullus, 92, of North Manchester, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012.
He was born in Wabash on November 13, 1919 to Hazel Rife and Ernest Paullus, both deceased. Mr. Paullus graduated from Wabash High School and Purdue University with a degree in Agriculture. On November 5, 1950, he married Mildred Yarnelle Paullus, she survives.
Mr. Paullus owned and operated Wabash Asphalt Company for many years. Later, he owned an appraisal business and Paullus Real Estate Company in Wabash.
He is survived by his wife and daughters: Jane Grimes (Bruce) of Carmel and Lois Smock of Zionsville. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Howard and Marvin, are deceased.
Mr. Paullus was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Wabash, Elks Lodge in Wabash, American Legion, and was a Marine Officer during World War II.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Presbyterian Church of Wabash, 123 West Hill Street, Wabash, IN. 46992.
A private ceremony for the family will be held at Falls Cemetery on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Pastor Laura Helm will officiate. Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, IN has been entrusted with arrangements.
