Ernest Nixon 87, of 424 South Pilot Knob Rd. (Denver/Pilot Knob Community, Lincoln County) died Sunday, August 30, 1998, at The Lincoln Medical Center in Lincolnton, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, August 31, 1998, at The Salem United Methodist Church in the Denver/Pilot Knob Community. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at The Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Jan Heermans will officiate both services.

Born in Lincoln County, Mr. Nixon was a son of the late Walter and Emma Henkle Nixon, husband of the late Katie Carroll Nixon and brother of the late Roy Nixon. He was a retired chemist/farmer, and was a member of The Salem United Methodist Church in the Denver/Pilot Knob Community.

Mr. Nixon is survived by three sons and one daughter; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Velma Robertson of Denver/Pilot Knob Community and Sylvia Camp of Gastonia.
