Virginia Ann (McCullough) Chenoweth

Surrounded by her loving family and in the peaceful grace of God, Virginia Chenoweth of Coronado died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Sharp Memorial Hospital after a brief stay in the intensive care unit.
The cherished matriarch of the family she so dearly loved, Virginia enjoyed being a vital part of family activities and an active participant in her grandsons' lives. She was an especially ardent fan of Coronado Islander lacrosse.

Virginia came to Coronado from Baltimore, MD, where she was a homemaker and employee of the Baltimore County Schools System. She quickly integrated herself into the Coronado Village community and was a frequent visitor to the Coronado Seniors' Center. She often participated in the Center's trips to the theater and to Native American resorts for the casual study of applied probability. Virginia enjoyed the company of her friends on shopping trips and she relished her independence while cruising down the Strand behind the wheel of her Buick land yacht.

She is survived by her brother Dennis McCullough of Pottsville, PA; her son and daughter-in-law, Emory L. and Marianne Chenoweth of Coronado, and her three grandsons in whom she had great pride, Matthew Chenoweth of Boston, MA, and Kevin and Sean Chenoweth both of Coronado. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Emory S. Chenoweth of Baltimore, MD.

Raised in the anthracite coal region of Eastern PA, Virginia was a strong woman of great faith and remarkable character. She was a fervent member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parish community, holding a special devotion to the daily Mass and the Rosary. A celebration of her life during a Mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. A reception will follow the Mass in the parish hall. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, Virginia would have preferred donations to her one of her favorite charities, the Wounded Warrior Project.
