Mr. Virgil Grady Cauley, 79, passed away Monday morning, April 30, 2007, at his residence following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Appling County, he had lived in Thompson, Georgia for many years before moving to Pierce County thirty-five years ago. He had worked in the construction business but had also driven a truck for Wooten Truck Lines. He was a member of the Mershon Baptist Church where he was in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and he was also a member of the Pierce County Hunting Club. Mr. Cauley was a son of the late William Grady & Ocie Medders Cauley and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Lee Bagley Cauley, and a grandchild, Cheryl Leigh Boyd.

Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Lillie Haselden Cauley of Blackshear; four daughters and three sons-n-law, Barbara Boyd of McDonough, GA, Karen & Tony Joyner and Brenda & Craig Turner all of Blackshear and Susan & David Tucker of Waycross; two sisters, Vera Wheeler of Lawrenceburg, TN and Betty Henderson of Brunswick; a brother and sister-n-law, Alton & June Cauley of Baxley; 6 grandchildren, Ben Roberson, Brandon Joyner, Brian (Tonya) Turner, Christy (Chris) Leggett, Patricia (Michael) Quintero and Lindsey (Rusty) Tatum; 6 great grandchildren, Chloe Roberson, Amber gayle Roberson, Devon Turner, Danielle Turner, Lacy Leggett and Zach Quintero and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Virgil survived the car accident that killed his first wife (Ruby Lee)he had serious injuries..
