Ackerman, Isaac Wagoner Company G, 8th Iowa Cavalry. He was born on 29 Dec 1827 in Saratoga County, NY to Elisha Ackerman (1791-9 Feb 1885) and Betsey Brundage (-). They had eleven children and lived in Jones County, IA.

He enlisted on 1 Aug 1853 from his home in Anamosa, Jones County, IA. He was reduced to ranks at his own request on 1 Apr 1864 and was discharged on 13 Aug 1865 at Macon, GA. He was injured by being thrown from his horse and disabled for life.

He was married to Catharine Ackerman (27 Feb 1834-1 Jun 1899). On 29 Dec 1879 he was given an invalid pension (#323805), certificate #212039.

He died on 10 May 1898 and they are both buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, Jones County, IA. Catharine Ackerman later received a pension (#677367), certificate #480630.
