Arcena A. Lalicker, 99, died peacefully at her home in Albuquerque on Monday, September 8, 2003.

She was born April 18, 1904 to John and Mary Belle (Brandon) Aldrich in Bluff City, KS. She grew up in South Haven, KS and graduated from South Haven High School in 1923. She worked as a telephone operator and supervisor.

In 1956, Arcena moved to Albuquerque to marry her high school sweetheart, Carlton F. Lalicker. She is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; one brother; and nephew. She is survived by her niece, Margaret Patterson and family; Carlton's children, Robert G. Lalicker, wife, Marjorie, and family, Nancy M. Shaffer, husband, George, and family. Also surviving her are numerous grand-nieces; nephews; grandchildren; great grand nieces; nephews; and great grandchildren.

Arcena was a cheerful, well-read, and hard working woman who finally retired in 1973. She was a devoted Christian and long-standing member of the Monte Vista Christian Church community.

An avid sports fan, she loved watching football, basketball, golf, and tennis. She was a committed Lobo fan, knew the players, their positions, and their statistics up to the time of her passing.

She will be remembered as a caring and loving person by her many friends and family members. Arcena was a joy to be around, "a little ray of sunshine" and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundations.
