Denis Michael Begley, aged 61, married, a Retired Bus Driver, died at his home 65 Gracepark Road, Drumcondra, Dublin, on 18 April 1958.
The cause of death was Carcinoma of the Lungs, 2 years and 3 months, Cardiac Failure, 7 days, certified.
The informant of his death was Michael Begley, son, present at death, of the same address, who registered it on 19 April 1958.
The headstone notes that Denis Begley was a member of "E" Company, 2nd Battalion, Dublin Brigade of the Old IRA.
He had previously been O/C of the IRA in the Charleville district of North Cork.
He took part in the War of Independence, and took the Pro-Treaty side during the subsequent Civil War
