Herbert Paul Cheesman of San Antonio slipped quietly into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 83 after an illness. He was born on May 10, 1935 to James B. and Mary A. Cheesman. He graduated from Harlandale High School and then joined the US Army, serving in Korea in the Army Corps of Engineers. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, and a Master’s Degree in math from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He was employed as a civilian engineer in the Department of Defense at Kelley Air Force Base for 33 years. In addition, he taught math at several of the San Antonio Community Colleges for many years. He was preceeded in death by his parents and 12 of his 13 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, children, step children, grandchildren, great grandchild, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Herbert will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family, his sharp mind, his subtle sense of humor, and his strong sense of duty and responsibility.
