Joan M. Zipprian Skiles, age 85, was called to her eternal home by our Lord in Del Rio, Texas on Thursday, July 26, 2018.
Joan was born on February 13, 1933 in Corpus Christi, Texas to James and Olive Zipprian. She graduated from W.B. Ray High School, Corpus Christi, Texas in 1953. She studied nursing and attended nursing classes at Val Verde Memorial Hospital in the 60's. She had a special place in her heart for the elderly. She worked at Val Verde Nursing Home (now Retama Manor), Del Rio Nursing Home, and La Vida Serena Nursing Home. She also performed private duty nursing for many Del Rio residents at their homes and in the hospital.
She will be remembered for her love of family, especially her four children, and her sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She is preceded in life by her husband of 20 years, Bennie Joe Krauskopf, her infant daughter, Roxanne Marie; her parents; and brothers: Dewey G. “Stormy” Zipprian, Rockne L. “Rocky” Zipprian, and James H. “Smoky” Zipprian. Survivors include her children Olive Sue Flake (Tony) of San Antonio, Texas, Joanie Bolner (Dan) of Alpine, Texas, Edward “Spike” Krauskopf (Donna) of San Angelo, Texas, Ben Krauskopf of Alpine, Texas as well as numerous neices and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the Maxwell P Dunne Funeral Chapel located at 1222 Morgan Ave., Corpus Christi, TX 78404. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2018, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.
