In the Air National Guard for about two years, Garrett was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and was employed by Franklin Limestone Company. He was a member of First Baptist church and was survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. H.G. Garett, a brother, H.G. Garrett Jr., and a sister, Mrs. Glen H. Duncan, all of Nashville.
