Mrs. Lena Charlson, who resided in this section for 35 years, died Friday in the Valencia district, where she was very active in all community affairs. Her birthplace was Sweden and she was 70 years of age. She came to California at the age of 16 years. She resided in San Francisco and Fresno before going to the Aptos section. Mrs. Charlson was a member of the War Mothers. She was a very earnest Christian woman. She is survived by her husband Sam Charlson; three daughters, Mrs. Elmo J. Bennett of Santa Cruz, Mrs. E. J. Chesbro of Gilroy and Mrs. Walter McCrea of Grass Valley; two sons, Lloyd of Valencia and Rolland of San Jose. Her oldest daughter, Mrs. Elmer McCrea of Santa Cruz, passed away over two years ago. There are several grandchildren and the following sisters: Mrs. Widlund of Manson, Iowa, Mrs. Andersen of Minnesota, Mrs. Ostman of Courtland, Cal., Mrs. Ostergren of San Francisco and Mrs. West of Hughson, Cal. The funeral will be held at the Chase mortuary at 3 o'clock Monday, with interment in Oakwood cemetery.
