George Carroll Johnson, III age 90, of Douglassville, Texas went to be with the Lord Monday, August 06, 2018 at his residence. George was born August 18, 1927 in Prairie Lea, Texas to George Johnson, Jr. and wife Winnie. He was retired from Red River Army Depot; served in the United States Navy during World War II; was a member of Douglassville Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for over 30 years; and was also a member of Amateur Radio Cass County. He enjoyed spending time with his family doing all sorts of outdoor activities; was a Ham Radio Operator, call sign KB5TCH; loved talking about politics; he also enjoyed working crosswords, Sudoku, and any other kind of puzzle he could get his hands on. He was preceded in death by his wives, Effie Johnson, Penny Johnson, Sandra Johnson, Ella Bates; two brothers, Charles Ray Johnson, Billy Pat Johnson; and his parents.

Every day of his life he continued learning and teaching. He was a very spiritual man loving God and his fellow man.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicki Gamez of Douglassville, Texas, Susan Lykins and husband John Wilson of Douglassville, Texas; son, George Carroll “Pete” Johnson of San Francisco, California; three step-daughters, Heidi, Linda, Bobbie Lou; a step-son, Lee; four grandchildren, Michelle, Bob, Justin, Selena; ten great-grandchildren, Sam, Zoe, London, Summer, Mila Chloe, Jameson, Karen, Alyssa, Emilio; and a number of other relatives.
