Nesbitt and Susan had four known children. Links have been created for their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, and for their adopted daughter, Adelaide James-Bowes. Two other children died young and their burial information is unknown:

James F Bowes born 1843 and died 10 Apr 1857 in Providence, RI
Susan F Bowes born 1848 and died 20 Jun 1848 in Providence, RI

Of Note: there are court cases for Adelaide, thought to be among the first in the US, regarding the rights of adopted children. Nesbitt and Susan wanted Adelaide to have all the rights and privileges any biological child might have. This was contested by her sister, Sarah, after their parents death. The court upheld the rights of Adelaide and set future precedent for adopted children in the US.
