PROSPECT – William “Bill” Geary, 84, passed away peacefully on Aug. 6, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Cecelia “Rose” (Birkenberger) Geary for 61 years.

He was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., son of the late George and Matilda (Terwilliger) Geary. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was a heavy equipment diesel mechanic. In his spare time, he loved traveling with his wife and woodworking.

Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Darlene Dullard and husband Kelly of Waterbury, Debra Strobel and husband William Sr. of Elburn, Ill., and Judith Geary of Waterbury. He also leaves four grandchildren, Brittany Carlson and husband Nicholas, Kelly Dullard, William Strobel Jr. and wife Tabitha, and Hannah Picinich and husband Mark; and two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Amelia. Bill is also survived by two brothers, Robert Geary and wife Judith of Wolcott, and John “Jack” Geary and wife Patricia of Prospect; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Geary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Burial with military honors will be in Prospect Cemetery.
Calling hours will be today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.
