Alfred G. Austin

October 14, 1929 - July 25, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Alfred G Austin announces his passing on Wednesday July 25, 2018, at the age of 88.

Fred was born in Prescott in 1929, son of Edward Austin . He later found the love of his life and married Lupe Sanchez in 1950. The couple lived in Bagdad where they raised their family, and Fred continued to enjoy his 35-year long career in mill operations for the mine. After retiring in 1985, Fred and Lupe moved to Wickenburg. In the years after retirement Fred enjoyed dabbling with computers, working on projects late into the night, and passionately expressing his political views with his family and the local community.

After the passing of Lupe in early 2006, Fred was blessed with finding another love. He and Betty Jane Brown married in 2009, and spent the last nine years together creating a new circle of loving family and friends.

Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nine years, Betty Jane Brown-Austin; his sisters Maria and Ramona; his brother Junior; his sons Ed (Meg) and Dave (Patsy) Austin; and by his seven grandchildren April (Jason), Heather (Tom), Sonja (John), Michelle (Jeff), Christopher (Teyah), Steven and Miranda. Fred will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, extended family and dear friends.

Reaching heaven before him, waiting to once again embrace him was his wife of 56 years, Lupe Austin; his sons Freddie and Steven Austin; and his mother Frances Hernandez.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Stroke Association or American Heart Association.

Services will be held in Wickenburg on Friday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m., at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, located at 232 N Tegner St. Wickenburg. Lunch will follow in the Catholic hall next door.

Friends may offer online condolences at www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com Arrangements under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.
